Ha Long Bay is World Heritage Site

Ha Long Bay is World Heritage Site in Quang Ninh Province in Vietnam. The bay belongs to Ha Long City. This bay featured several limestones karsts and isle in various shapes and sizes. This bay is a center of large zone which include Bai Tu Long Bay and Cat Ba island. This Bay has an area of 1556 km2 with 775 islets.

The limestone formation had gone through 500 millions of years in different conditions. It has about 400 species of green vegetation and about 60 animal species.

According to locals, when this country was started development, then they had to fight with the invaders. And, to assist Vietnamese god has sent a family of dragons as a protector.

These dragons began to spit out jewels and jade that turns into island and islets, linking together to form a great wall against the invaders. After winning the battle, the dragon wants to rest in peace, then they decided to live on this bay. A place where mother dragon took a rest is named Ha Long, and where children took a rest was called Bai Tu Long island.

This bay consists of about 1600 limestone monolithic islands each with dense jungle vegetation. Many of them are hollow with enormous caves. Hang Dau Go cave is the largest cave. There are two other bigger islands, Tuan Chau and Cat Ba, with permanent inhabitants as well as hotels and beaches to enjoy.

There are four fishing villages on this bay with around 1600 of people living there. They live in floating houses and get going through fishing and marine aquaculture.

the islands have got their name as a result of their unusual shapes and sizes. Such names include Voi islet that means elephant, Ga Choi islet means fighting cock, Mai Nha islet means roof, and Khi islet means Monkey.

All these islands act like a tower with heights of 50m to 100m. This bay is having several lakes inside the limestone island.

The beauty of Ha Long Bay is admired by each corner of the world. This beauty had been created naturally by strong erosion and heavily salted water. This process of erosion by sea water had engraved the stone and contributed to its adorable beauty. This present Ha Long Bay is the result of this long process of geological evolution.

Tourist visit this place to admire this natural beauty and one of the natural wonders of the world. This Ha Long Bay is a natural geological museum that has been naturally preserved since 300 millions of years.
